Allergies

Allergies to certain foods, dust, pollen, dogs, cats etc, are a horrendous misery for anyone who suffers from them. Allergies are caused because of an immune system disorder. The body's immune system reacts aggressively to the allergen and releases into the system neutralising chemicals (including histamines). A normal healthy immune system is there to provide a barrier to disease and possible infection . It provides a system to keep you well and shuns things that can harm your body including bacteria, drugs, dust, dead cells, pollutants and viri to name but a few.

Modern medicine can provide no cure to the sufferer of allergies, only medication to suppress the symptoms (i.e. anti-histamines ). In the long term, these medications become ineffective as the body's tolerance to them increases, causing the sufferer to either change their medication or increase their dosage. Other more serious effects have been chronicled, including problems with the heart. For the sufferer these long term problems can just be accepted so as to provide a short term release from the life sentence that allergies can cause to them.
