About a year ago I was walking through Canterbury with my parents and whilst in Debenhams we saw a spinal screening stand offering a free spine and health check. My parents persuaded me to have a go at it as they knew I had suffered from back pain in the past.so I did.

Having been in the Army, and now in the Metropolitan Fire Brigade, I have suffered many knocks and bumps most of my working life.

In addition to the many work stressors, jumping off multi-storey car parks as a teenager was fun, but was also not so good on the body, hence a broken arm in three places.

 

 

I have suffered from lower back pain and a stiff neck now and then, and just put it down to wear and tear due to the activity of my working life, and that I would have to "grin and bear it" as this is what happens as you get older.well so I thought.

 

Anyway, I had my x-ray and a couple of days later went back to the Ideal Spine Centre for the results. To say I was surprised at the results was an understatement. I was shown the x-rays and where the problems were. It was then that I heard a new word to me, "subluxation", which I now know to be misalignment of the spine which interferes with the nervous system. I had five subluxations, but I was told by Dr Farthing that he could help me.

It has now been over a year since that day in Canterbury and I have just started my second year at the Ideal Spine Centre. The difference in the year is that I have free movement with my neck and I don't suffer from the lower back pain that I used to have. When reversing my car, instead of my whole body moving around to look out the rear it's now just my neck, as it should be. A good thing when you do the work I have to do.save lives!

Since attending the workshops, I have found them very interesting and educational on how to eat better and how to live healthier. (Perhaps Dr Farthing could tell me the secret of how to grow my hair back).

Dr Farthing and his staff are always very friendly, courteous and professional. I have, with my experience at the Ideal Spine Centre, found you are treated more as a person than a patient, and that it is more like a family as opposed to a practice.
