KERRIE BRYAN - 8 years old

My name is Kerrie and I'm 8 years old. My mum, sister and niece go to the Ideal Spine Centre. One day she asked me to go and have a check-up and x-ray. The x-ray machine was a little scary, but I went ahead with it anyway. Mum was confident that everything would be OK, because she always says I'm perfect in every way. However Dr. Christian found I have 5 subluxations. He said he would be able to help me by having adjustments. I didn't mind this because I had seen my mum and my baby niece have adjustments many times.

The best thing about going to the Ideal Spine Centre is the jungle room. This is where I meet up with all my friends that I have made since I have been going to the Ideal Spine Centre. We don't get much time to play because it never takes Dr. Christian long to call us up for our adjustments and then we have to leave to go home.

Wednesday nights are quite good because that's the night of the workshops. I don't like going to that because Dr Christian talks and talks and then he talks some more. So I sit down stairs, sometimes with friends and sometimes on my own, and sometimes Liz will put the DVD player on for me.

On the way home in the car mum will always tell me what the workshop was about. At first I wasn't happy about it because the McDonald's stopped and so did the Pizza Hut. It has taken sometime to get used to it, but now I do quite enjoy the healthy eating.

Remember, Dr. Christian always says "take care of your spine and you'll feel fine."

'An Optimal Spine equals Optimal Health'

HEIDI (22 years old) and MADDI Bryan 7 months old

Bringing your children up drug free sounds quite fantastic doesn't it? Believe me it is! Although I will say it's not easy, please let me explain. If you chose this path of optimal health and wellness, you may find that people will judge you and tell you you're wrong, but all you have to remember is that you're not on your own.

I am a 22 year old first time mum and when my daughter was born I vowed to keep her happy and healthy. I booked all the appointments for her immunisations - measles, mumps, rubella, meningitis and polio - I could go on, the list is endless. With all these injections I thought to myself 'Her poor immune system'. What did I know? It must be Ok because all the doctors give them to all the children?

My mum was a patient at the Ideal Spine Centre and she begged me to have a spine and subluxation check-up and also get Maddi an appointment for a health check. What did I have to lose? The first day I met Dr Christian Farthing I knew he would be a friend for life.

As the results of Maddi's health check Dr Christian told me that both Maddi and I had subluxation. He told me that a subluxation is a misalignment in the spine causing nerve interference inside the body. I was devastated as my daughter was only four weeks old. Dr Christian said subluxation, if caught in time, can be put back into place with adjustments and I was told that a healthy spine leads to a healthy nervous system and ultimately a healthy body. So now my daughter Maddi and I both get adjusted regularly at the Ideal Spine Centre.

After talking to Dr Christian for a few minutes he asked me to read a book before I got Maddi vaccinated . Once I read the book I was horrified, confused and frightened. Everything I thought to be true was shattered. The book gave me a lot of facts and figures against immunisations and I cancelled my daughter's appointments as I wanted to do more research. After a few weeks of intense research I came to the decision not to go ahead with her vaccinations as this was best for her.

Once I had told people of my decision I found myself in the minority. I was told that I was irresponsible, and too immature to make the right decision. So feeling a bit lousy an unsure of myself I went to see Dr Farthing, who then gave me lots of information, books and leaflets on my decision. But believe me, it doesn't stop there.

Dr. Christian holds Half Hour to Health workshops on every Wednesday evening. I have learnt so much from these. But he does even more. He always has time to give me sound advice and encouragement on different aspects within our lives. He also shares the most up-to-date information and past experiences to help give me a broader choice on decisions I have to make and educate me on how to bring Maddi up drug-free and healthy. These workshops also teach me how to lead a healthy lifestyle.

My daughter is now ten months old and I know she is one of the healthiest children on this planet. Even now my decision to bring up my daughter drug free is frowned upon. But I know I have made the right and most logical choice and I will never look back. Bringing up my daughter drug-free is giving her the biggest, healthiest step to the rest of her life. This has been the best thing that I have done for my health and my daughter's health.

I can now tell you that both my daughter and I are drug free and lead a very healthy lifestyle. I no longer get constant heartburn, and no longer suffer with the usual aches and pains. I am 22 years of age and was told that I had arthritis in my wrists and would have to take steroid injections every 4 weeks for the rest of my life and yes, you guessed it, once getting adjusted, it disappeared!. Since going to the Ideal Spine Centre I have found a new confidence in myself. It's not just a health centre, it's a whole new family. I now find myself living, not just existing.

'Education is More Important than Medication'

SALLY-ANN BRYAN - 42 years old

My name is Sally-Ann Bryan. I am 41 years of age and I am a support worker. My story starts the day I was born. I was diagnosed with Scoliosis and had to attend a London hospital for regular check ups from birth through childhood. Doctors told me I would never lead a normal life - I would have to have several operations by the time I was 30 and that I would never know life without pain.

The problem was that I was very stubborn, even as a child. I refused to have any of the operations; I don't know why, but there was just something inside me telling me not to do it. As for normal, I had three children and did the same things as any other mother. I went swimming, walking and bike riding.

The one thing the doctors were right about was the pain - it was always there, night and day, but I could live with that because I had never known anything else. After 36 years , the hospital told me there was nothing more they could do for me unless I had an operation. I never went back and they never asked to see me again . The older I got, the worse the pain got. The pain got so bad I starting sleeping on the sofa at night so as not to disturb my husband. I took pain-killers, but they never helped. I stopped swimming, walking and bike riding because of the pain. I started putting on weight, my health was deteriorating and I had developed a hiatus hernia, which made me vomit blood. I literally chewed on 'Rennie' constantly, having anywhere between 20-30 per day. My GP also gave me pills for this, which he said I would have to take for life. Each time I picked my pills up they came with a warning that they should not be taken regularly because they can cause harm and damage to my internal organs .

I suffered from asthma and was on steroids for this. Life was starting to look bleak for me until I saw an advert in the local paper. Dr Christian was offering the opportunity for a free assessment at the Ideal Spine Centre. (What had I got to lose?) The first thing I notice about Dr Christian was his welcoming and big cheeky grin, and then, it was how healthy he looked. Dr Christian was full of confidence and he truly believed in what he was telling me. At the end of my x-ray report, he said I had 7 subluxations, something I had never heard of until that day. After looking at some charts and listening to Dr Christian I could see that the subluxation could be the cause of my aliments and my deteriorating health.

He made no promises but said he could help. Three months on and life has already changed. I only take one of my nasty and life-threatening pills instead of two. I would, in time, like to come off the pills but Dr Christian has said 'small steps'. I have come off all the steroids for my asthma and the nurse has told me I now have the lungs of a 26 year old. I no longer chew on Rennie. So, if I was to look at my situation now compared to four months ago, I have not taken the usual 7,200 Rennie, taken 240 less organ damaging tablets and not any of the daily steroids. (Health is now occurring from within!). With the help of the health workshops on Wednesday evenings I have also lost 2 stone and I have started swimming, walking, and bike riding again (and even running). I don't think I have ever felt this good.

As for the pain, well its better! I don't sleep on the sofa any more and I don't cry myself to sleep at night. Thanks to Dr Christian I have got my life back . I tell all my friends and family about Dr Christian and anyone else who will listen. As for this staff, they are great! They are always kind and helpful and always have time to listen to me, and I know anything I tell them is in confidence.
