The above quotation relates to me, Dean Northwood, and to the four members of my family. We are pleased to be able to share with you our experiences of the Ideal Spine Centre. Firstly I would like to say that we found the centre by chance. Living in Broadstairs we had never come across it before. But it was a case of 'Right time, Right place!'

As a self-employed carpenter I had been suffering from back pain for fourteen years. At the time of discovering the Ideal Spine Centre I was unable to move, let alone work. This was the seventh time this had happened to me in fourteen years. I was depending on my family to do my work for me. Eventually I began to think that it was something that I just had to accept and live with. Considering my profession and that my family were constantly moving and refurbishing our homes, this was not easy to accept. One move for me was onto the lounge floor for three months, as I was, once again, unable to move.

One evening, last February, my daughter mentioned having seen the Ideal Spine Centre on her way home. I made an appointment, slightly sceptical, and thinking it would be like all the other appointments before, but after my first meeting with Dr Farthing I left thinking this place could be different and finally something could be done. In my fourteen years of suffering I had seen doctors, had numerous courses of anti-inflammatory tablets and even had an all over body scan, only to be told that there was nothing wrong with me. I had never heard of the word subluxation before.

Since starting with Dr Farthing the changes have been amazing. Simple everyday tasks have become easier, I no longer have to worry that my back will go and I'll be in pain again. My knowledge of my back and my health has been increased, as well as my quality of life.

The most shocking part of all this was actually seeing my x-rays. Having never been offered an x-ray before, I was horrified to see the damage done to my back over the years. It was clear now why I had been in pain for so long. The most worrying thing was to find out that my wife and three children, who had never suffered with back problems, were worse than me.

My name in Janet Northwood and, having been married to Dean for 23 years, have seen the effects that living with back problems can have. Personally, I have never suffered from any back pain but have had other problems that, I now know, relate to the misalignment of my spine. After seeing the improvements in Dean I decided to have myself checked. I was shocked to hear Dr Farthing say that I should have attended first. My neck and back were in a worse condition that my husband's.

It was 3 years ago that I started having pins and needles down my right arm. My everyday life, like Dean's, was affected. Looking after the family and working on our new home was sometimes impossible. My sleep even became affected. I was woken every night by a burning sensation down my right arm and spent 4 months without a full night's sleep.

Eventually I went to our doctor for help. He sent me for reaction tests, to test the nerves in my hands. The conclusion was a course of steroids and eventually surgery. The operation involved cutting the nerves in my hands to stop the pins and needles from occurring. Thankfully I refused both . In the 2 months that I have been getting regular adjustments there had only been 2 occasions in which the problem has re-occurred. Everyday family and working life is no longer affected and I can finally sleep.

As young adults and teenagers we have never considered the effects that our spine could have on our health. We just thought that back problems wouldn't affect us, we're too young! There had been the occasional ache and pain but it was soon forgotten, nothing to the extent that our Dad suffered. We thought that it was a problem that may happen to us later in life and, like other young people, we'd worry about it later . But now we realise that it is now, while we are still young, that is the most important time.

When we all saw our x-rays we were all shocked to see than we were worse than our Dad. At 20, 18 and 14 our spines were in a condition that, if left that way, would one day give us more serious problems than our parents. Within two visits to the Ideal Spine Centre the reasons behind some of our problems were answered. My name is Jade Northwood and, at 20, was suffering from constant headaches. They started 2 years ago after a car accident. Ever since then I would have a headache daily and there was nothing I could do to stop them. But after just 2 weeks of adjustments at the Ideal Spine Centre they disappeared and I have not had one since.

The Ideal Spine Centre has helped educate me and my younger brothers about our spine, nervous system and overall health. It had also helped us get used to early mornings!

My name is Sam and I'm 18 years old. I work with my dad so I'm the person who took over from him when he was suffering from back pain. I've had slight back aches in the past but nothing that was constant, although I am glad to now be getting regular adjustments so that my work won't be affected. The biggest benefit to me has been information I have collected from Dr Farthing on healthy lifestyles. I am a type one diabetic and have to attend 6 month checks at my doctors . At my most recent visit there was a reduction in my cholesterol levels and, more importantly, my glucose levels are more stable and the amount of insulin I take has been reduced. The Ideal Spine Centre has helped every part of my health.

My name is Jack and I'm 14 years old. At 14 you don't really think about your health, that's Mum's job! But when I saw my x-rays I changed my mind. My neck was almost straight, it had no C curve to it, probably because of my love of the playstation. But since then I have spent less time on the playstation and more doing the exercises Dr Farthing showed me. I have even started to eat more healthily and think about my health more.

As a family we regularly attend the evening workshops and have all benefited immensely from them. We now have a more healthy and active lifestyle and are fully aware of the importance of a correctly aligned spine. We have changed our ways as a family, but none of it would have been possible without Dr Farthing and his staff. A massive Thank You has to be sent to them for their professionalism, dedication and hard work. They are the best at what they do!
