WEAR & TEAR / BACK PAIN

INDIGESTION / HEARTBURN

I have had a hiatus hernia for over 40 years. I suffered a lot of heartburn which sometimes lasted for weeks, where I often got that bad reflux esophagitis where the acid from the stomach comes up and burns the oesophagus. I was told that this could lead to a stricture and a narrowing of my windpipe.

I was offered an operation, which seemed a bit drastic at the time (breaking ribs to get to the stomach). Nowadays I believe there is a keyhole method.

I started at the Ideal Spine Centre for my bad hip, but since starting care I haven't had indigestion for months, no heartburn and can now eat anything I want, not to forget the improvement in my hip.

With the end of the year 2004 in sight, I came to realise that it is over four years since my first meeting with Dr. Christian Farthing. As I've stated many times before, it was the turning point in my life.

Pain-ridden and finding my mobility extremely restricted - all medication having failed, the door seemed to be closed and I was very depressed!!

My neck became painful and uncomfortable. As if that wasn't bad enough, I started to get headaches and my eyesight was suffering. My doctor suggested I see a Spinal Specialist. I met Dr. Christian through my work and at the gym and decided to make an appointment.

I have just made one of the biggest decisions of my life so far. I have cancelled an operation to have two discs removed from my lower back ('dual discectomy'). I have injured my neck and spine several times. These injuries, years ago, have caused me many problems occasionally since I was 12. I have been to Doctors, Physiotherapists, Osteopaths and Chiropractors for treatment, but since about 1988 these visits have been getting more frequent. Each practitioner had something to offer to relieve the symptoms. Once I was prescribed Ibuprofen (400mg) in a 500-tablet pot and an open prescription to get more whenever I wanted them.
