I had known of Dr. Farthing but never met him prior to my husband’s and son’s consultation on 20th November 2006. I was initially unsure how a spinal check-up could help my son. Caleb (aged 6 at the time) had suffered constant and recurring ear infections. In fact, he had suffered more than 40 ear infections before the age of 6. All of which, he consulted our GP and was prescribed antibiotics. Caleb’s hearing was also border-line and was affecting him as he struggled to hear. I knew that we were not getting to the root cause of his problem and wanted to learn more about how to help my son. That is when I contacted the Ideal Spine Centre.

Initially, I had a number of questions and it was Dr. Farthing who kindly returned my calls and walked me through what his goals would be for my son’s health. It made sense, so I booked an appointment for both my son and husband. My husband was involved in a near fatal accident 26 years ago and so, I thought it would be a great idea to get him checked at the same time as Caleb. Part of the reason I organised my son’s appointment at the same time as Philip was because my son was VERY fearful of any person handling him. He has since been diagnosed with Autism (Aspergers Syndrome) which means he struggles to mix with other people and communicate socially. It does explain his timid and shy behaviour and also his lack of talking, but we are working on that slowly.

I must say, from the very first day Dr. Farthing met Caleb and our family, he has been truly wonderful. He has worked patiently and gently with Caleb, whereby my son allows Dr. Farthing to examine him every visit and do spinal adjustments on him. It has been a transformation in itself and I am confident that over time, Caleb’s increased trust in Dr. Farthing will help him overcome some of his other issues.

My husband, Philip, had six subluxations and quite a severe cervical shift which meant that his head often fell to the left. This, as Dr Farthing explained, could contribute significantly to the debilitating headaches that my husband had suffered.

Both my husband and I were so impressed by how thorough Dr. Farthing had been that I organised a check-up for both my daughter Kirsty and I. As a family, we have been attending the Ideal Spine Centre since November 2006. I have felt like Dr. Farthing has cared so much for my family that I have encouraged other people to consult him for their health.
I did not feel I had any symptoms at all, but working at a desk for many hours a day has taken its toll. I could see my posture and x-ray findings, all confirming what sitting for prolonged periods does to the spine. I saw the x-rays and they don’t lie: I have six vertebral subluxations but they are able to be improved.

Since our family have been attending the Ideal Spine Centre, Caleb’s health has improved as he has not had one ear infection and only had one small ‘cold’ compared to the regular infections and colds he had experienced before going to see Dr. Farthing. His hearing was tested and considered ‘normal’ after just three (3) months of spinal health care and spinal adjustments. Who would have guessed that correcting his spine, making his nervous system work more effectively would have helped to resolve his ear infections? My GP never told me to get Caleb’s spine checked, even after 40 infections and all the antibiotics to go with them. My husband has reduced his medication. I have taken on a senior position at work as the Business Manager of the Royal Bank of Scotland in Canterbury, with incredible levels of stress and I believe the work Dr. Farthing is doing to help me allows me to manage the workload and stress levels I have had to work with. My daughter Kirsty, although a very healthy girl, is still very healthy and I believe the nutritional information and posture advice Dr. Farthing has provided us helps prevent problems for my children in the future.

I have also referred work colleagues to Dr. Farthing, one specifically who had been involved in a serious car accident. She had been suffering with her back for months and had seen a consultant who said it was “all in her mind”. She had difficulty sleeping, was unable to exercise, suffered from daily headaches and regular migraines and the pain in her lower back was affecting her work. Since going to the Ideal Spine Centre, she no longer suffers and also does not get headaches and migraines, something she thought she was going to have to live with. I know she has also referred her mother to see Dr. Farthing because she too suffered with daily headaches and was taking drugs for them but since having her spine checked, feels so much better. This may seem “all too good to be true”, but Dr. Farthing helps so many people and sometimes our culture looks down and ostracises people who are not following the traditional ways of doing things. He isn’t promoting the use of drugs and is teaching the community about wellness care, maintaining a higher level of health, whether you have problems or not. It makes sense to partake in regular maintenance habits to stay well.

I really appreciated his honesty which gave my husband and I all the information we needed to make an informed decision in relation to our family’s health.

We have been attending the Ideal Spine Centre for nearly one year and about to continue into our second year of “Lifetime Family Wellness” and look forward to a healthy future.
